Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV) is the source for the cameras, Eagle Log, current nest observations, and conservation context represented throughout this section. The organization installed the nest camera in October 2015 after planning, fundraising, and permitting.
The Aviary adds navigation and plain-language viewing context; it does not operate the camera or replace the official record. For current nest status, use the official log rather than an old screenshot, social repost, or cached page.

FOBBV installed the nest camera after two years of planning, fundraising, and Forest Service permitting.
The resident male now called Shadow established himself at the nest and later became Jackie's mate; he is not the earlier fledgling that shared the name.
Nest activity changes quickly. The official log is the best place for time-sensitive observations and season updates.
Two chicks hatched in early April. By the end of June, both had left the nest in their first flights and continued using the territory as fledglings.
After more than three weeks of intensive veterinary care, Jackie died. FOBBV said a comprehensive statement would follow; until then, the cause should not be guessed or reduced to one unconfirmed diagnosis.
